New Twins Website entwined community Giveaway

 Entwined-Community

Here is your chance to WIN a membership to a super cool NEW twins and multiples website! entwined community, founded by triplet mom Alicia Crowther, is the only place on the web where multiple birth families come together to support twin/multiples owned businesses.

There are hundreds of thousands of twins and higher order multiples born each year.  What if each of us pledged to support our fellow multiple birth families by supporting their businesses?  You’ve heard of “buy green” and “buy local” – now it’s time to “buy multiples”!

entwined community is your one-stop location to find local and online businesses that are owned by either twins/multiples themselves, or owned by the parents of multiples.  Individuals get great members-only discounts on a wide variety of products, services, and gifts.  For businesses, entwined community offers a great way to connect with new clients and customers that have pledged to support businesses with families just like theirs.

In addition to money saving opportunities, entwined community includes a monthly newsletter and BigTent membership group, where multiple birth families can come together to discuss how to start their own business, how to face the challenges of working out of the home, and more topics related to work and professional life.  Although there are many sites and blogs related to twins and multiples, entwined community is the FIRST dedicated to supporting twin/multiples owned businesses.

entwined community is celebrating their launch this week, and to help kick off, they are sponsoring a giveaway of 10 individual memberships (regularly valued at $15/year) and 10 business memberships (regularly valued at $35/year).  If you are a twin or multiple yourself, or the parent of multiples, enter to win a membership today!

 *It’s very easy to enter!*

You’ll earn 1 giveaway entry for each of the following  for a total of 5 possible entries:

Facebook – Like entwined community and post a status update “I’ve entered to win a free membership with the new twins/multiples website http://www.entwinedcommunity.com.  Check them out!”

Newsletter – sign up for the entwined community newsletter, a monthly publication with articles and advice from entwined community members and member businesses on starting a business, working from home with multiples and more.

Flickr– Add entwined community as a contact on Flickr, where members can share photos of their experiences with entwined community businesses.

YouTube– subscribe to entwined community’s YouTube channel,  where members can share videos of their experiences with entwined community businesses.

This giveaway is open to twins/multiples or the parents of multiples who are at least 18 years of age and reside in the United States.  entwined community business membership is limited to multiple birth families that own, operate or can make management decisions in their business.  Full terms and conditions of entwined community can be read on their website

Sarah Pekkanen, author of The Opposite of Me

Sarah Pekkanen, author of The Opposite of Me

“I just read the best book!” I’ve been saying that a lot lately about Sarah Pekkanen’s debut novel The Opposite of Me. The book is about fraternal twin sisters Lindsey Rose and Alex, the bond they share and the complexity of their relationship.  It’s extremely funny, but also thought-provoking as well and I just loved it.  The plot line is fresh and original and best of all, completely unpredictable.  It held my attention right to the last page.

Read my interview with Sarah posted on our website to learn more about this great book and why Sarah choose twins as her main characters.  This is definitely one author that you’ll want to keep an eye on.

Now on to the prizes! Double Up Books is proud to participate in this year’s blog party with 2 different prizes.

Forget Perfect by Lisa Earle McLeod

This is one of my favorite books! I read it about 4 years ago and it literally changed my life. Forget Perfect is a smart and funny look at how trying to be perfect actually gets in the way of happiness, and how letting go of being perfect means raising standards to live life to the fullest and appreciate the things that really matter.

A Gaga for Mama Baby Outfit

Gaga for Mama is our exclusive line of babywear that lets moms know how much they are loved and appreciated. Each one of our hand designed baby bodysuits feature an inspiring message for moms.

Also available are coordinating pants, bibs, and hats in our super-soft cotton.

If you’re the winner of this prize, you’ll receive a bodysuit, pants, bib and hat in your choose of design, color and size.

Good luck! You can view all of the prizes by following this link.

Again, thanks for stopping by. If you leave a comment or add yourself to Google Friend Connect to let me know that you were here, I’ll be sure to stop by your blog too.

Who would be the opposite of you?If I had a twin, who was the complete opposite of me, she’d be tall with straight blond hair with a dislike for reading and traI guess she’d be a super-skinny blonde, who preferred academics over creativity… and hated chocolate or anything sweet (which I guess is where the super-skinny part would come in :-p)So, who would be the opposite of you??

Pre-Order The Opposite of Me and Enter Raffle

The Opposite of Me by Sarah Pekkanen

Pre-Order The Opposite of Me on March 3, 2010 and Be Entered into a Raffle Hosted by the Author

In anticipation of her book release, Sarah Pekkanen, author of the twin fiction novel The Opposite of Me, is offering a chance to win some awesome prizes by pre-ordering her book on March 3, 2010 only.

Pre-order your copy of The Opposite of Me at Double Up Books  and we’ll send your information to the author to be entered!

Here are her raffle prizes:

  • A small, sleek HD camcorder from DXG USA’s Pro Gear line for 2010, which retails for $300.
  • A gift bag containing five hot new Simon & Schuster releases.
  • Five high-end, cotton t-shirts from Heart Threads Clothing. You pick the size, color and secret message printed on the inside of your shirt and worn close to your heart. Five winners!
  • A 30-minute phone consultation in which Sarah will explain, step-by-step, how she got signed by a literary agent and publisher. This will include an editorial critique of your manuscript of up to 40 pages. If you’re not interested in writing a novel, you can gift this prize to anyone you choose.
  • A $35 gift certificate to MAC cosmetics (Lindsey is a fan of their eyeshadow) and a gorgeous red bustier from Affinitas Intimates.

But that’s not all!  #1 New York Times bestseller Jennifer Weiner, author of 7 blockbusters including Best Friends Forever and In Her Shoes, is supporting The Opposite of Me by holding an incredible giveaway of her own! Please visit Jen’s website at www.jenniferweiner.blogspot.com for the details of how she is giving a free, autographed copy of one of her books to every single person who orders The Opposite of Me on March 3 only, until she runs out of books – which she says won’t be for a while (yes, you read that right – you get a Jen Weiner book – two books for the price of one, while supplies last.

I got my hands on an advance copy of this book and I’m loving it!  It’s just what I needed to read right now while I’m waiting for the dark winter days to pass and the start of spring to begin.  If you’re a fan of authors like Jennifer Weiner, Emily Giffin, and Sophie Kinsella I think you’ll also like this debut novel.

This is a story about fraternal twin sisters Lindsey and Alex.  Lindsey, although successful in her own right, always felt inadequate when comparing herself to her beautiful twin sister.  We meet single Lindsey when she is just about to receive her dream job offer – to become the youngest VP ever at the NYC ad agency that she has been working countless hours at.  One mishap happens after another and the door to her opportunity shuts just like that.  She must now pick herself up, dust herself off, and head back home to be reunited with her family and start her career anew.  But, can she cope with her failures at the same time that her perfect sister is planning her dream wedding?

I’m really enjoying the story so far and I know it’s going to be one of those books that I’m going to be sad when it ends.  Although my description above makes it sound heavy, it’s actually a fun read with a lot of humor and warmth.  I can see this as a perfect summer read too.

So head on over tomorrow (March 3, 2010) to pre-order your book at Double Up Books and be entered into the raffle PLUS get a Jennifer Weiner book too, while supplies last.  We’ll ship your book as soon as it’s published.

Good luck!
